Multiple Aspects of Self

One of the more valuable concepts in exploring our vast psyches is to look at our mind as having many, many selves. When we begin to see each aspect as a different self within, then we have the ability to approach this self with objectivity of mind. Those aspects of selves reflect the child within, the wounded aspect, the fearful aspect, the powerless father, the critical mother, the wise woman, and the empowered male, to name a few.

When we approach these aspects objectively, then we no longer identify with that aspect as if it were the whole of who we are. We begin to see it with clarity. Once it becomes an object aspect of self, then we are able to perform functions upon it. This does not include beating it with a stick, but we can begin to open our hearts to have compassion for this aspect.

Compassion and unconditional love are transforming energies (remember, they are not emotions), and they assist in the process of integrating those conflicted aspects into the state of consciousness of non-duality and wholeness. We are transformed.
